Explore ancient and contemporary methods of using plant-based raw materials to make an eclectic variety of useful herbal products. Summertime calls for specialized products. In this class, we make Skeeterbeater Natural Insect Repellent and Anti-Itch Spray. It is a safe, natural, and effective spray for control of many biting insects and for relief of itch due to bites, sunburn, or mild rash. Made with cooling aloe vera gel, jewel weed, plantain leaf, and pure essential oils such as lemon, mint, and tea tree.
We also make Natural Sunblock Lotion, spf 15. This is an non-greasy, light lotion made with local organic sunflower seed oil, aloe and non-nano zinc oxide. Please note that I cannot guarantee the spf level beyond the research I will present, and I do not recommend this product for full protection against the bright sun at pool or beach settings. However, it is a safe, clean, inexpensive alternative to commercial products and is suitable for ordinary daily use.
We also make Cooling Aloe Vera Lotion- a clean, light, moisturizing lotion. It was originally formulated as an all purpose, anti-bacterial lotion for acne and oily skin. But Aloe also soothes and heals damaged skin and cools the pain of sunburn, and skin irritated by insect bites, so it’s a very useful lotion in summertime. Made with organic Aloe, organic vegetable glycerine, local organic sunflower oil and essential oils.
